NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Grammy-nominated music producer Tay Keith, known for producing major hip-hop hits including Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” died Thursday at age 29, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department and a statement from his family.
Police said Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, known professionally as Tay Keith, was found dead during a welfare check at his Nashville apartment. Authorities said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
The cause of death remains unclassified pending autopsy results, police said.
Keith’s family confirmed his death in a statement provided on June 19, describing him as a producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose work shaped modern hip-hop. The family said he also founded Drumatized, a company aimed at supporting emerging artists and producers.
The statement said Keith graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and remained active as a mentor and advocate for young creatives. The family also said he supported mental health awareness and cancer-related causes in honor of his late mother.
The family said memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Keith earned a Grammy nomination for “Sicko Mode” and worked with artists including Drake, Eminem, Lil Baby, and Beyoncé. His credits include Drake’s “Nonstop” and BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive,” according to published reports.
