South Korea taps Sandara Park as Overseas Koreans Agency ambassador

SEOUL, South Korea — Sandara Park has been appointed public relations ambassador for the Overseas Koreans Agency, a government body under South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the agency.

The Overseas Koreans Agency announced the appointment on its Instagram page on June 2.

Park confirmed the appointment on her Instagram account on June 4 and shared moments from the appointment ceremony.

In a message posted in Korean, Park said she was grateful for the opportunity to serve in the role.

Park said her years living in the Philippines contributed to her understanding of the experiences of overseas Koreans.

The Overseas Koreans Agency is responsible for supporting Korean nationals and ethnic Koreans living outside South Korea.

Park began her entertainment career in the Philippines in 2004 through the television talent program “Star Circle Quest” before later debuting as a member of the K-pop group 2NE1.
