Celebrities Anne Curtis, Nadine Lustre, and Bianca Gonzalez joined public voices condemning alleged corruption in nationwide flood control projects, expressing outrage and frustration over misused funds that have worsened the struggles of ordinary Filipinos. Using social media and interviews, the three actresses criticized greed in government and the lavish lifestyles of officials’ families while citizens suffer from displacement and loss.
Anne Curtis turned to X (formerly Twitter), echoing broadcaster Jessica Soho’s sharp commentary on greed in governance. “When Mam @KM_JessicaSoho said, ‘Hindi na pala baha ang magpapalubog sa ating bayan kundi kasakiman.’ Sakit,” she wrote, quoting Soho’s statement that greed, not flooding, could drown the nation.
In a separate interview, Nadine Lustre admitted she shares the people’s dismay over the controversy. “I’m really sad seeing people struggling, losing their homes, livelihood, pets, because we can’t find a solution,” she said. “Nakaka-galit, nakaka-lungkot na ‘yung binibigay natin na buwis sa ganon napupunta. Nakakainis talaga. It is sad funds are being used for something else.”
Bianca Gonzalez also weighed in, criticizing the display of wealth by children of officials linked to corruption. “My feed [is] filled with posts on the lavish lifestyle of kids of corrupt officials… and here we are, without generational wealth or stolen riches, working hard every day, sometimes even hesitant to post about small travels or purchases out of fear of being called ‘mayabang.’ Paano ba to,” she remarked.
The scandal, which has sparked widespread public anger, continues to draw condemnation not just from citizens but also from influential figures in entertainment.
