Lionsgate announced on May 16 that Ralph Fiennes has been cast as President Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the latest installment of the popular dystopian franchise.
Fiennes, known for his Oscar-nominated roles, will take on the character of the main antagonist in the upcoming film, set 24 years before the events of Katniss Everdeen’s story.
Producer Nina Jacobson expressed that the casting choice was made with the intention of honoring Donald Sutherland, who originally portrayed Snow in the earlier films.
Jacobson also shared her excitement about working with Fiennes, one of this generation’s most acclaimed actors.
