Batangas City, Philippines — Nxled pulled off a stunning five-set victory over defending champions Petro Gazz during the PVL on Tour on Saturday evening at the Batangas City Sports Center.
Rookie standout Lyann de Guzman powered Nxled with 21 points, setting a new record for a rookie debut performance. De Guzman, the team’s fourth overall pick in the league draft, led her squad to a 25-23, 19-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-10 win.
The victory marked a major upset against the reigning All-Filipino champions, showcasing Nxled’s growing strength in the league. De Guzman’s performance proved instrumental in turning the tide, especially during the fourth and fifth sets when Nxled regained control.
