MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed his outrage over the escape of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo. He stated that corruption within the system allowed her to leave the country. Marcos announced that there will be consequences for those involved in her departure, pledging to punish them to the fullest extent of the law.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) revealed on Monday that Alice Guo, who was dismissed due to corruption charges, managed to flee. Guo is a suspect in various allegations of misconduct during her term. Marcos emphasized that the government will take strong action against any individuals implicated in facilitating her escape.

The President’s comments reflect a broader concern regarding integrity and accountability within government institutions. He expressed a commitment to rooting out corruption at all levels and ensuring that public officials are held responsible for their actions. Marcos called for an investigation into how Guo was able to evade legal consequences and exit the Philippines.

Reports suggest that Guo was facing multiple allegations, including graft and other improprieties. Her dismissal from office was a significant development for the local community, and her subsequent escape has heightened tensions regarding governance and public trust.

Marcos stressed the importance of demonstrating that breaches of the law will not go unpunished. He also highlighted the need for stricter enforcement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The President’s vow to make heads roll underscores his determination to ensure that the rule of law prevails, regardless of an individual’s position or influence.
