A man charged with capital murder and multiple violent offenses is back in custody after a nearly month-long manhunt across North Texas.
Trevor McEuen was arrested Monday by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities had searched for him since he removed his ankle monitor and failed to appear in court while out on bond.
McEuen originally faced charges stemming from a May 2023 incident involving the fatal shooting of a neighbor in Forney, Texas.
Following his disappearance, law enforcement agencies intensified efforts to locate him. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) classified McEuen as a fugitive and added him to its most-wanted list. Governor Greg Abbott announced an increased reward of $30,000 for information leading to his arrest.
The search involved multiple agencies, including DPS and the U.S. Marshals. Authorities tracked leads across the region before locating McEuen.
McEuen has been booked into the Kaufman County Jail. He faces charges of capital murder, arson, and five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office will proceed with prosecution. Law enforcement officials emphasized the arrest’s importance in ensuring public safety and moving the case forward for the victim’s family.
