MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Health announced on Saturday, Oct. 4, that the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will cover orthopedic treatment for victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Cebu.

PhilHealth’s “Z benefits” package will provide orthopedic care for residents affected by the earthquake.

The Department of Health said the package includes orthopedic procedures, surgeries, and rehabilitation services.

Eligible victims can receive treatment in accredited health care facilities under PhilHealth’s program.

Health officials have released the process for accessing the orthopedic services and advised victims to contact accredited providers for details.

The Department of Health confirmed coordination with local authorities to ensure the delivery of medical assistance to affected communities.

The government introduced the coverage to address medical needs of residents injured during the earthquake.

PhilHealth’s coverage includes hospital and medical bills for approved orthopedic cases.

The Department of Health will oversee the implementation of the orthopedic care program.
