Actor, entrepreneur, and athlete David Licauco balanced his multiple roles as he joined the inaugural Pilipinas United 3×3 League recently, where he played for Team Taho Story A. Licauco, also preparing for his upcoming GMA action-drama “Never Say Die”, said he takes his busy schedule “hour by hour,” driven by his passion for his craft, love for sports, and the goal of giving his family a comfortable future.

David Licauco is often described as both “accomplished” and “multi-faceted.” Known for his work as an actor and brand endorser, he also embraces life as an entrepreneur and an athlete. In a recent interview with The STAR during the Pilipinas United 3×3 League, the Kapuso star shared how he manages his different commitments by carefully planning his day. “I take it hour by hour,” he said, noting that while the work can sometimes be exhausting, his love for what he does keeps him motivated.

The Pilipinas United 3×3 League, founded by Andrew Combate and Eric Altamirano as a FIBA 3×3 Lite Quest event, aims to popularize the sport in the Philippines. Licauco competed with professional players Louie Vigil, Gryann Mendoza, and Tosh Sesay as part of Team Taho Story A. Comparing 3×3 to the traditional 5-on-5 basketball, Licauco admitted the transition was tough because of its faster pace and shorter shot clock, but he embraced the challenge.

On that day, he appeared not as an actor but as a basketball player fulfilling a childhood dream. “I wanted to make my 16-year-old self proud,” he said during The STAR interview. He also expressed gratitude to the league organizers and brand partners for the opportunity to play.

While training for basketball, Licauco is also preparing for his upcoming teleserye “Never Say Die,” where he has been practicing arnis for action scenes. He described the project as exciting, especially since it pairs him with Jillian Ward and other new cast members, after a string of successful projects with Barbie Forteza. Licauco will also appear in Barbie’s current series “Beauty Empire.”

Outside work, he finds time to unwind, most recently in Siargao, where he hopes to build a villa. He is also expanding his café business with a new branch in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

When asked if he would consider a sports-themed acting project, Licauco said he would welcome the chance, especially if the story centers on basketball and inspires young audiences.
