Olivia Rodrigo drops ‘The Cure’ music video

LOS ANGELES — Filipino-American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo released her new single “The Cure” and its official music video on Friday ahead of the launch of her third studio album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.”

Rodrigo announced the release through Instagram on May 22, saying the song holds personal significance and describing it as central to the direction of the upcoming album.

“THE CURE SONG AND VIDEO IS OUT NOW!!!!! this song means so much to me and I’m so so so happy that it’s out in the world!” Rodrigo wrote.

She also credited producer and songwriter Dan Nigro, along with music video directors Bead Lizard and Cat Solen, for their work on the project.

Rodrigo described “The Cure” as the “thesis statement” of the album and said the track helped shape the overall project.

The music video released alongside the single follows Rodrigo as she navigates heartbreak and emotional confusion.

“The Cure” is the second single from “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” which is scheduled for release on June 12.

The upcoming album follows Rodrigo’s previous records, Sour and Guts.

Last month, Rodrigo released the album’s lead single “Drop Dead,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its music video was filmed at the Palace of Versailles in France.

Rodrigo also recently appeared on Saturday Night Live, where she performed “Drop Dead” and previewed another song titled “Begged.”

She is also preparing for her upcoming “Unraveled Tour,” which will support the new album later this year.
