Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour announced the relaxation of rules to allow psilocybin’s use in treating specific depression cases.
Psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in some mushroom species, can induce hallucinations and an altered state of mind.
Seymour clarified that while psilocybin remains an unapproved medicine, a psychiatrist with significant experience received authorization to prescribe it to patients with treatment-resistant depression.
