MIAMI — Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra thanked supporters on Friday after a fire destroyed his Miami home early Thursday morning.
The blaze occurred around 4:30 a.m., but Spoelstra and his children—Santiago, Dante, and Ruby—were safe, as they were at their mother’s residence during the incident. More than 20 fire units responded, containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to neighboring properties.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Spoelstra expressed gratitude for the community’s support, describing it as “absolutely remarkable.” He addressed the public alongside his children, acknowledging the outpouring of well-wishes from fans and the Miami Heat organization.
No injuries were reported, and the Miami Heat has offered assistance to Spoelstra and his family. Authorities continue to investigate the fire while safety measures for the family are being reassessed.
