KYIV, Ukraine —Ukrainian military sources reported that North Korean troops, who had been fighting alongside Russian forces on the Kursk front line in Ukraine, were recently withdrawn after suffering significant casualties.

The withdrawal of these foreign soldiers was confirmed by a Ukrainian military spokesperson during a conversation with AFP.

Russia has not confirmed or denied the involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict. Instead, Russian officials have shifted their focus, accusing Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of engaging in misconduct, although no further details of the accusations have been provided.

The presence of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine has raised questions, though no concrete evidence has been released to substantiate Ukraine’s claims.

The exact number of North Korean troops involved, or the scope of their participation in combat, remains unclear.

Military experts suggest that the Kursk region is strategically important due to its location, which may influence military actions in the area.

Analysts believe that the withdrawal of foreign troops, if verified, could impact future operations in the region.

The Ukrainian government has expressed concern over the involvement of foreign military personnel, viewing it as an escalation that could complicate efforts for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. Ukraine continues to call for international support in addressing these concerns.
