SAN ANTONIO, Texas– More than 6,000 residents in San Antonio experienced power outages on Sunday, according to CPS Energy.
The outages mainly affected the lower southeast side, including neighborhoods around Lakeside and Crestlake, impacting approximately 5,407 customers.
The power disruptions were caused by severe thunderstorms that passed through the area on April 20, 2025.
Early reports indicated 3,137 customers were affected by 62 outages, increasing to 3,305 customers across 95 outages by mid-morning. Later updates showed 75 outages impacting 2,616 customers.
CPS Energy dispatched crews to restore power and remains on standby as adverse weather conditions persist. The National Weather Service reported thunderstorms continuing through the morning, with expected improvement by the afternoon.
Officials advised residents to avoid downed power lines and to report emergencies to CPS Energy. Customers experiencing extended outages were encouraged to contact the utility’s hotline.
CPS Energy reminded customers to prepare emergency kits and to follow safety precautions when using generators. The utility also urged residents in unaffected areas to conserve electricity to support grid stability.
