WASHINGTON — Miley Cyrus has dropped her last name from her social media identity as she begins a new era that includes a new look and the promise of new music.
Cyrus changed her Instagram username from @mileycyrus to @miley and updated her official website from mileycyrus.com to mileyofficial.com.
She also unveiled a new red-and-black visual across her social media accounts and website, featuring the singer dressed in black fur.
The changes come about a month after Cyrus revealed that she was working on a new album. In an interview with Wonderland published July 27, she described the upcoming record as a “love story.”
The album will follow “Something Beautiful,” which Cyrus released in 2025. She previously released “Endless Summer Vacation” in 2023, which included her hit single “Flowers.”
“Flowers” earned Cyrus Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
Cyrus’ latest changes also came days after the death of her godmother, Dolly Parton, who died at 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
Cyrus paid tribute to Parton in an Instagram post, saying her godmother would want her to process the loss through music and continue moving forward.
“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong,” Cyrus wrote. “I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis.”
Cyrus has not announced a release date or title for the upcoming album.
