MANILA, Philippines — Megan Young became emotional after witnessing her and husband Mikael Daez’s son, Leon, take his first independent steps.
In a joint Instagram post, the couple shared a video showing Leon walking several steps toward his father to retrieve a toy without assistance.
“The milestone I have been most excited for,” Mikael wrote, adding that while many had warned him that parenting becomes more exhausting once a child starts walking, he was “ready for the exhaustion.”
The video captured Megan cheering quietly in the background as Leon walked, while Mikael praised their son, saying, “Good job, Leon!”
In another clip, Mikael turned the camera toward Megan, who was wiping away tears.
“Tears of joy. Leon just walked,” Megan said. “I’m so overwhelmed with emotion and I’m so proud of him.”
The couple welcomed Leon in May 2025. Earlier this year, they celebrated his first birthday with a family vacation in Boracay before holding an intimate gathering with family and friends in Makati.
Following the trip, Mikael shared that Leon developed a love for swimming during their stay on the island.
The couple has also spoken openly about their parenting journey. In an earlier interview on Paano Ba ‘To? hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, Mikael said they have learned to embrace uncertainty as first-time parents while choosing a parenting approach that works best for their family despite outside opinions.
