DALLAS, Texas — Medical City Healthcare, in coordination with the American Red Cross North Texas Region and Carter BloodCare, will conduct 19 blood drives across North Texas during the summer months.

The blood drives will take place at various Medical City hospitals and facilities.

Eligible donors must be at least 16 years old and in good health. Appointments can be scheduled online, and walk-in donors will be accepted at select locations.

According to the American Red Cross, blood donations often decline in summer due to increased travel and higher accident rates. The upcoming drives aim to help meet hospital demand for blood used in surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatment, and chronic illness management.

Ten of the 19 scheduled blood drives are being promoted by Medical City Healthcare’s Black Colleague Network, with a focus on increasing donations to support patients with sickle cell disease.

Medical City Healthcare operates 16 hospitals in North Texas. Carter BloodCare supplies blood to more than 200 hospitals and healthcare facilities in the region.

All donation sites will follow health and safety protocols, including on-site health screenings. The donation process typically takes less than an hour. Donors will receive instructions on how to prepare for their appointments, including guidance on hydration and nutrition.

The blood collected will be used by local hospitals served by the three partner organizations.

Returning and first-time donors are being encouraged to participate. Donation records will be entered into secure databases to help determine future eligibility and manage blood inventory.
