## Marcoleta Expelled from Five House Committees

Sagip Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta has been removed from five committees in the House of Representatives. The committees include the powerful Committee on Appointments, which oversees significant legislative approvals and appointments.

Marcoleta, known for his strong allegiance to former President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte, was also removed from the Committees on Good Government and Public Accountability, Energy, Health, and Basic Education and Culture. His expulsion was announced during a plenary session, presided over by Cebu Representative Vincent Franco Frasco.

The announcement followed a heated discussion concerning the Office of the Vice President’s budget, where Marcoleta played a pivotal role. In recent weeks, Marcoleta’s involvement in questioning the disbursement of funds within the Vice President’s office drew significant attention. His vocal stance during budget hearings positioned him at the center of political controversies, often clashing with other lawmakers.

The exact reasons behind his removal from the committees remain undisclosed. However, it is widely regarded as an outcome of the mounting tensions and political maneuvers within the House. Marcoleta’s removal from these influential committees could affect his legislative influence and capacity to advocate for specific policies.

Marcoleta reacted to his expulsion with resilience, stating that it is part of the political landscape and that he will continue to serve his constituents. He emphasized that his commitment to public service remains steadfast despite his removal from the committees.

Marcoleta has a history of controversial statements and actions. He was one of the key figures in the congressional hearings concerning the closure of ABS-CBN, one of the Philippines’ largest broadcasting networks. His stance on this issue had previously positioned him as a prominent and polarizing figure in the House.
