MANILA, Philippines — Actress Liza Soberano confirmed on August 14, 2023, that she and actor Enrique Gil ended their relationship nearly three years ago.

The confirmation came during her appearance on the Can I Come In? podcast, marking the first public acknowledgment of the couple’s split.

Soberano stated that the breakup was kept private at Gil’s request and due to her concern about potentially losing fan support.

She described the separation as “beautiful” and emphasized that it was necessary for her personal growth. According to Soberano, while the two loved each other, they were no longer compatible.

Rumors about the breakup began circulating in 2022 after the pair stopped appearing together publicly and were no longer visible on each other’s social media accounts. Both actors previously denied the speculation until Soberano’s recent disclosure.

Known collectively as “LizQuen,” Soberano and Gil starred in several successful television dramas and films, building a strong fan base in the Philippines and abroad. The two maintained a professional and romantic partnership that lasted for several years before quietly ending their relationship.

Soberano did not mention any upcoming collaborations with Gil and has since focused on her solo career. She expressed gratitude for the continued support of her fans and shared that she remains optimistic about her future.

Gil has not publicly commented on the confirmation, and their management has not issued an official statement regarding the breakup.
