MANILA, Philippines — Lea Salonga will receive the 2,855th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Sept. 4, becoming the first Filipina to receive the honor during a ceremony recognizing her career in live performance.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre. Actress Ming-Na Wen, who voiced Mulan while Salonga provided the character’s singing voice, will speak at the ceremony, while Emmy Award-winning journalist Sibley Scoles will serve as emcee.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame will stream the ceremony on its official website at about 2:30 a.m. Philippine time on Sept. 5.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, said Salonga’s career has spanned decades and reached audiences worldwide.

Salonga won a Tony Award for her performance as Kim in “Miss Saigon.” She also became the first Asian actress to play Éponine in the Broadway production of “Les Misérables” and later played Fantine in its 2006 revival.

Her other Broadway credits include “Once on This Island,” “Here Lies Love,” “Allegiance,” “Flower Drum Song” and “Old Friends.”

Salonga also provided the singing voices of Princess Jasmine in “Aladdin” and Fa Mulan in “Mulan” and “Mulan II.” Disney named her a Disney Legend in 2011.

She has also appeared in television and film projects, including “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” and the animated productions “KPop Demon Hunters,” “Centaurworld” and “Little Demon.”

After the Walk of Fame ceremony, Salonga will receive the Icon Award at the Manila International Film Festival’s Closing Night Awards Gala on Sept. 6 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Salonga’s Walk of Fame honor follows a 45-year career that has included performances in the Philippines, the United States and other countries.
