MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino expressed pride in her youngest son, Bimby Aquino, after he discussed healthcare in his first major solo endorsement.
Bimby, recently introduced as the new ambassador of a health maintenance organization, appeared in an advertisement released Tuesday, Sept. 22.
In the video, Bimby discussed his mother’s autoimmune diseases and said they remain fortunate that they can afford the healthcare that has helped keep her alive.
“But health should not be a privilege, nor should it be a struggle. It should be a given,” he said.
Kris praised her son in the comments section and recalled their previous conversations about healthcare in the Philippines and his interest in public service.
“Bimb, I purposely waited for the video to be posted, before watching and I am a very proud mama. You spoke from the heart,” Kris wrote.
She said she and Bimby had often discussed the government’s responsibility to provide healthcare for taxpayers.
“The two of us have often discussed that healthcare should be the government’s responsibility for all tax paying citizens,” Kris said. “When you told me that you wanted to go into public service, I already started to nag you that healthy citizens will be hardworking tax paying citizens.”
Kris also shared her hope that public schools would have dedicated rooms for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, saying investments in equipment can help prepare young people for the future.
Bimby previously appeared with Kris at an event for a personal hygiene brand.
He has also received public attention for caring for his mother during her health struggles. He accompanied Kris during her treatment abroad and later remained with her after she returned to the Philippines.
Kris has shared photos showing Bimby helping her when she was too weak to walk on her own.
