SEOUL, South Korea — South Korean actress Nana, formerly of the girl group After School, faces a lawsuit from a man accused of breaking into her home and attempting a robbery in November, her agency Sublime said Friday, Jan. 2.
The man, in his 30s, recently filed a complaint against Nana alleging attempted murder and aggravated bodily injury, according to Sublime.
Police arrested the man on Nov. 15 on charges of robbery and bodily injury after he allegedly entered Nana’s residence using a ladder, demanded money, and threatened Nana’s mother with a weapon. Both Nana and her mother sustained injuries, with her mother requiring hospital treatment for strangulation.
Nana reportedly subdued the intruder after hearing her mother’s screams. During the struggle, the intruder suffered a jaw wound, reportedly from the knife he carried.
The suspect initially admitted to his crimes but later denied possessing a weapon or causing injuries during police investigations.
Police previously determined that Nana acted in legitimate self-defense. A Guri Police Station official said in November 2025 that “the level of force used did not amount to excessive or serious injury to the suspect” and that “the actions fall within the scope of legitimate self-defense, and no criminal charges will be pursued.”
Sublime said Nana and her family suffered “severe physical and psychological harm” during the incident and criticized the suspect for filing a complaint against the actress. The agency added that it intends to pursue all available civil and criminal legal actions against him, citing concerns that he was exploiting Nana’s status as a public figure.
