MANILA, Philippines — Lakam Chiu, the older sister of actress and television host Kim Chiu, remains in police custody after authorities arrested her Sunday, Sept. 20, over 124 counts of qualified theft.
National Capital Region Police Office spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo said Monday that police detained Lakam at Kamuning Police Station of the Quezon City Police District after completing the documentation related to her arrest.
“Waiting po sa commitment order from court,” Asilo told the Inquirer.
Police arrested Lakam at about 4:06 p.m. Sunday in a parking area along Saint Francis Street in Barangay Wack Wack, Mandaluyong City, according to the QCPD report.
Authorities carried out the arrest during an intelligence-driven manhunt operation based on a warrant issued from Branch 84 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
The court set bail at P5.8 million.
The QCPD had identified Lakam as the sixth most wanted person of Kamuning Police Station.
Asilo said police had no information on whether Lakam planned to post bail.
Kim filed a qualified theft complaint against her sister with the Quezon City Office of the City Prosecutor in December 2025.
The complaint stemmed from alleged financial discrepancies involving more than P44 million in corporate funds at the sisters’ handbag company.
The allegations remain subject to court proceedings.
