JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — Kevin Quiambao led Gilas Pilipinas in their final appearance at the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, scoring 11 points in an 84–60 quarterfinal loss to Australia on August 13 at King Abdullah Sports City.

Australia dominated early, building a 20-point lead by halftime and maintaining control throughout the match to secure a place in the tournament’s semifinals. Despite the defeat, Quiambao made a notable impact for the Philippines, shooting 4-of-6 in the first half and providing a steady presence on the floor.

The loss marks the end of Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup. The team, composed largely of young talent, faced a well-prepared and physically dominant Australian side.

Gilas Pilipinas showed resilience throughout the tournament, but the quarterfinal matchup underscored the challenges of competing at the highest level in Asian basketball. With their elimination, the team now shifts its focus to future international competitions.

Australia advances to the semifinals as the FIBA Asia Cup continues in Jeddah, while the Philippines reflects on its performance and development opportunities for its emerging roster.
