MANILA, Philippines — Japeth Aguilar played his final game for Gilas Pilipinas on Monday night, ending a 16-year career with the national basketball team.

The Philippines defeated Guam 95-71 in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers at Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym. Aguilar, 38, started the game and recorded three points, one rebound, one assist, and a steal in 10 minutes and 27 seconds of play.

“Yes, I think this is it,” Aguilar said after the game. “It’s very fitting and I’m very thankful that I had moments with the future of Gilas. I’m thankful for the young guys and the moments we had on and off the court.”

Aguilar first represented the Philippines in the 2009 FIBA Asia Championships with Powerade Team Pilipinas, appearing in limited action. He went on to help the country win seven medals in international competitions, including a silver at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships in Manila, and also played in three FIBA World Cups.
