MANILA, Philippines — “Lovely Runner” screenwriter Lee Si-eun is set to return with a new fantasy romance series, “Heartbeat,” with actor Nam Joo-hyuk confirmed to lead the cast and Han So-hee in talks to star alongside him.
Lee, who also wrote the hit K-dramas “True Beauty” and “Lovely Runner,” is developing the upcoming series, which follows the romance between a woman who can see people’s pasts and a man determined to keep his own hidden.
“Lovely Runner,” starring Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, became one of 2024’s biggest K-drama hits during its 16-episode run from April to May. The series topped Rakuten Viki’s rankings in more than 130 countries and gained a strong international following.
Nam will play the male lead in “Heartbeat,” while Han’s agency confirmed that the actress is reviewing an offer for the female lead. The production has yet to announce its streaming platform or premiere date.
The series marks Nam’s latest project after his return from mandatory military service. He recently starred in Netflix’s “The East Palace” and is also set to appear in the Disney+ crime thriller “Code,” which is scheduled to premiere next year.
