MANILA, Philippines — Actress Glaiza de Castro announced Saturday, Sept. 12, that she is expecting her first child with Irish businessman David Rainey, months after she discussed their plans to have a baby.

De Castro shared the announcement through an Instagram post featuring photos of her showing her baby bump.

“Entering another chapter [pregnant girl emoji],” she wrote. “So glad I’m through the first trimester because… GRABE PALA. Will share more about this soon!”

She also thanked the women who have helped her prepare for motherhood and shared her experience as a first-time mother.

“It’s also been so nice and comforting talking to other women about this journey as a first-time mom. I need all the help I can get. Basta masasabi ko lang, ibang klase talaga ang mga nanay,” she wrote.

Several celebrities, including Heart Evangelista, Carla Abellana, Sanya Lopez, Gabbi Garcia, Julie Anne San Jose and Ruru Madrid, congratulated De Castro in the comments section of her post.

De Castro and Rainey met in Siargao and married in Northern Ireland in October 2021 in a Celtic-themed ceremony. They held a second wedding ceremony in Botolan, Zambales, in January 2023.

De Castro previously said she and Rainey planned to have children when the time was right. She also said she would ideally have two children if they received the blessing.

De Castro most recently appeared in “58th,” an animated documentary about the Maguindanao massacre. She portrayed Reynafe Momay-Castillo, the daughter of photojournalist Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay, one of the massacre victims.

She also starred in “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” and will appear in “Amir,” GMA Pictures’ official entry to the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival.
