MANILA, Philippines — The family of Dafnie Nacalaban, a 35-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW), is seeking justice after her decomposed body was found in Kuwait last December.

Nacalaban, who went missing in October, had been working abroad to support her family.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed Nacalaban’s identity and stated that her remains are in the custody of Kuwaiti authorities.

The cause of her death is under investigation, and authorities suspect foul play. A couple in Kuwait has been linked to the case, and legal proceedings are expected.

Nacalaban’s family, based in Cagayan de Oro City, said they last communicated with her in October.

Roxan Enloran, Nacalaban’s sister, revealed that she planned to surprise the family with a visit in December. The family is urging the Philippine government to assist in expediting the investigation and ensuring justice is served.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac extended condolences to the family and assured them of the government’s support. The department is coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the OFW’s death. The DMW is also providing assistance to Nacalaban’s family during this time.

Kuwaiti authorities are continuing their investigation to establish the motive and identify the individuals responsible. Officials have yet to release further details about the case.

The incident has prompted calls for increased protection and welfare measures for OFWs. Advocacy groups are urging the Philippine government to strengthen policies to safeguard Filipino workers abroad and prevent similar tragedies.

Nacalaban’s family remains hopeful for a resolution to the case and continues to push for justice. The Philippine government has committed to ensuring accountability as the investigation unfolds.
