Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty expressed confidence in the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza peace plan during an interview on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.”
Abdelatty said Egypt remains in close communication with Palestinian officials and Hamas as part of its mediation efforts to advance the plan.
The peace initiative, first proposed under former U.S. President Donald Trump, includes provisions for the release of hostages and the exchange of Palestinian detainees. Abdelatty said Egypt continues to facilitate talks between involved parties to support progress toward stability in the region.
According to Abdelatty, Egypt plays a central role in maintaining dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to balance both sides’ interests. He said the country’s diplomatic efforts aim to ensure that humanitarian and political objectives align during the plan’s early stages.
Abdelatty said continued communication with stakeholders is essential to achieving progress in the first phase and sustaining regional stability.
