MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 10,733 dengue cases in the Philippines from June 15 to June 28 this year, marking an increase from the 8,233 cases reported during the first half of the month.
In a statement issued Saturday, the DOH attributed the surge in infections to recent continuous rains and flooding, which have contributed to mosquito breeding in affected areas. The agency noted that it is preparing for a potential further rise in cases in the coming weeks.
The department has urged the public to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of maintaining clean surroundings, eliminating stagnant water, and following established dengue prevention measures.
Health authorities continue to monitor case trends nationwide as part of their response to the seasonal increase.
