DALLAS FORT WORTH, Texas — A ground stop at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) affected departing flights on Saturday due to thunderstorms in the North Texas region.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued the ground stop from 5:20 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as heavy rain and strong winds moved through the area.
In addition to the ground stop at DFW, Dallas Love Field Airport also experienced flight delays, with a ground stop issued there as well.
The National Weather Service had issued warnings for heavy rain, strong winds, and possible flooding in the region. Authorities had predicted the storm earlier in the week.
DFW, one of the busiest airports in the United States, continues to handle numerous domestic and international flights daily. Despite the temporary disruption, the safety of passengers remains the priority during severe weather events.
