Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins traveled out of town this past weekend on a previously scheduled trip while a winter storm affected the Dallas area, his office confirmed Sunday.
Jenkins serves as the county’s top elected official and oversees emergency management during severe weather.
His office said the trip was planned before the storm moved into North Texas and did not disclose the destination. County operations, including monitoring road conditions, coordinating with law enforcement, and managing emergency resources, continued under standard protocols in his absence.
Staff noted that the county’s emergency management framework allows other officials and agencies to carry out essential functions when the judge is away. Public updates on closures, shelter openings, and safety advisories were maintained through official channels.
Officials emphasized that no changes were made to emergency plans during Jenkins’ absence and encouraged residents to follow guidance on travel safety, home heating, and preparation for power disruptions during the winter weather event.
