The ICTSI Intercollegiate Tournament (IIT) Finals tees off on Sept. 23, at Summit Point Golf Club in Lipa City, featuring the country’s top collegiate golfers vying for World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points. With scholarships and international playing opportunities at stake, 15 individual qualifiers and eight teams will compete in the three-day event aimed at developing future Filipino golf talent.

For participants, these points could pave the way to college scholarships abroad, particularly in the United States, where many Filipino golfers have advanced after being scouted at ranking events.

A select roster of 15 players, including nine in the women’s division, earned their slots through a rigorous four-leg qualifying series held at premier golf courses across Luzon. Their performance in Batangas could catch the attention of international scouts, potentially opening doors for careers in collegiate and professional golf.

The finals will also stage a team competition with eight squads battling under a three-to-play, two-to-count format. Both individual and team champions will be crowned, highlighting the tournament’s role in strengthening grassroots golf and creating a structured pathway for collegiate players.

Jointly developed by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. (PGTI) and the Philippine Golf Foundation, the IIT seeks to bridge the gap between junior and professional golf, while also promoting the sport as a formal varsity discipline across schools and universities in the country.
