SEOUL, South Korea — Cha Eun-woo is considering a role in the upcoming drama “Seorabeol Knife,” which could become his first acting project since he paid a 13 billion-won ($9.2 million) tax assessment in April, his agency said Tuesday.
Fantagio said Aug. 11 that “Seorabeol Knife” is among several projects the singer and actor is currently reviewing.
The drama shares a fictional universe with the 2025 hit series “Bon Appetit, Your Majesty.” Jang Tae-yoo, who directed the series, will also direct “Seorabeol Knife.”
Cha enlisted in July 2025 and currently serves with the Defense Ministry’s Service Support Group.
Reports earlier this year said the National Tax Service imposed an additional tax assessment on Cha over income that had passed through a company established by his mother.
The assessment initially totaled 20 billion won but fell to 13 billion won after a review of overlapping tax categories.
Cha paid the final amount in full on April 9. He filed an appeal challenging the assessment on Aug. 2.
His latest acting project, Netflix’s “The Wonderfools,” was filmed before his military enlistment and premiered in May.
