AUSTIN — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced Tuesday that construction on the Oak Hill Parkway project, aimed at reducing congestion along US 290 and SH 71 in southwest Austin, is scheduled for completion by mid-2026.
TxDOT said the project includes adding new lanes, reconfiguring existing lanes, building elevated roadways, frontage roads, and improved intersections, as well as upgrading traffic signals to improve traffic flow and safety.
Officials reported that crews remain on schedule and within budget, using phased lane shifts and temporary detours to maintain traffic during construction.
The agency noted that the project team coordinates with local governments, emergency services, and schools to minimize disruptions, while traffic modeling guides construction sequencing.
Upon completion, Oak Hill Parkway is expected to handle higher traffic volumes, provide safer access to neighborhoods and commercial areas, and enhance regional connectivity.
