NEW YORK — Ariana Grande will release her eighth studio album, Petal, on July 31, as she begins a new music project following a two-year gap since her last record.
Grande announced the album on Instagram, where she shared black-and-white images previewing its concept and captioned one post “petal 7.31,” indicating the release date. She also posted images featuring flowers and footwear, suggesting elements tied to the album’s visual theme.
The singer previously hinted at new music by posting studio clips and describing a project as “full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold, hard, and challenging.”
“Petal” follows her 2024 album eternal sunshine, which included the songs supernatural, yes, and?, and twilight zone.
Earlier this year, Grande said in an interview that she would not release new music before May, citing time constraints. She later said she would need additional time and capacity to complete new material.
In a previous interview, Grande said she had considered stepping away from music before working on the film adaptation of Wicked, where she plays Glinda, which she said renewed her interest in recording.
In addition to the album, Grande is scheduled to begin her “The Eternal Sunshine Tour” in June, with opening shows at the Oakland Arena and concluding performances at The O2 Arena on September 1.
Grande is also set to appear in the upcoming film Focker In-Law, the animated feature Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, the 13th season of American Horror Story, and a London revival of Sunday in the Park with George.
