MANILA, Philippines — Volleyball player Alyssa Valdez said she remains committed to representing the country but declined to comment on recent issues involving the Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team during a media interaction.

Valdez asked reporters to allow the team time to address questions about the situation.

“I hope you understand,” Valdez said. “Definitely, once we have all the answers, we will let all of you know.”

She also said she remains willing to support the national program.

“I will never get tired of representing the country,” Valdez said.

“And hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, we can help [the team] in our own little ways,” she added.

Valdez last played for the national team during the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. She has recently rejoined the national pool for training.

She said she has been encouraged by the presence of younger players in the program.

“I’m so happy to be surrounded by young, talented girls. And hopefully, there will be more,” Valdez said.
