MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala will return to the Philippines for a brief break following her best Grand Slam performance at Wimbledon before beginning her hardcourt campaign leading to the US Open.

Eala will meet fans on July 15 at the Glorietta Activity Center to thank supporters after reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon, the deepest singles run by a Filipino in a Grand Slam tournament.

The 21-year-old advanced past the first two rounds in her sixth Grand Slam main-draw appearance and second Wimbledon campaign. She defeated defending champion Iga Swiatek in the third round before losing to Jasmine Paolini in three sets in the Round of 16.

Eala will resume competition at the Mubadala DC Open, a WTA 500 tournament in Washington, scheduled from July 27 to Aug. 2.

She will then compete in the National Bank Open, a WTA 1000 event in Toronto, from Aug. 2 to 13. Eala played in the tournament last year but exited in the opening round.

Before the US Open, Eala is expected to participate in the Stars of the Open exhibition during US Open Fan Week on Aug. 27 alongside Joao Fonseca, Iva Jovic and Learner Tien.

The Filipino standout is set to make her second US Open main-draw appearance after earning her first Grand Slam main-draw victory as a professional at last year’s tournament.

Following her Wimbledon performance, Eala is projected to rise from World No. 32 to a career-high No. 28 in the WTA rankings.
