Alex Eala will face World No. 2 Elena Rybakina in the Round of 16 of the Berlin Open on Thursday in Berlin, Germany, in their second meeting of the year on the WTA Tour.

Match time is scheduled for no earlier than 11:30 p.m. (Manila time).

Eala, ranked No. 35 in the Women’s Tennis Association standings, lost to Rybakina 6-4, 6-3 in their previous encounter at the Italian Open in Rome in May.

Rybakina holds the 2022 Australian Open title and enters the match after competing on clay in Rome. Eala and Rybakina will now play on grass.

Eala opened her Berlin campaign with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Donna Vekic on Wednesday.

She also won the WTA 125 Birmingham Open earlier in June during the grass-court season.

The Berlin Open serves as preparation for Wimbledon, scheduled from June 29 to July 12.
