QUEZON CITY, Philippines — ABS-CBN permanently closed the main gate of its Broadcasting Center along Sgt. Esguerra Avenue at 6 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, as the network continues to consolidate its operations at the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Communications Center.
ABS-CBN reporter Victoria Tulad documented her final entry through the gate in a video posted on Facebook shortly before its closure.
“We will miss you, ABS-CBN Esguerra gate. The gate closes at 6 am today,” Tulad wrote at 5:55 a.m.
In the video, Tulad drove toward the entrance and exchanged a brief farewell with a security guard stationed at the gate.
“Naglilipat na po kami,” the guard said.
The closure means vehicles entering the ABS-CBN compound must now use the Center Road gate beside the ELJ Communications Center along Mother Ignacia Street.
The Esguerra Avenue entrance is the second entrance at the complex to close as ABS-CBN reorganizes its operations following the sale of a major portion of its Quezon City property to Ayala Land Inc. for P6.24 billion.
The company announced the property sale in February 2025. Under the agreement, ABS-CBN sold about 30,000 square meters of its 44,027-square-meter property while retaining roughly 1.4 hectares that include the ELJ Communications Center and other facilities.
ABS-CBN said the proceeds would partially prepay its bank loans as part of efforts to streamline operations and reduce debt.
The company has continued to adjust its operations since its television broadcast operations stopped in 2020 following Congress’ decision not to renew its legislative franchise.
The network also closed the main roll-up door of its still-operating Audience Entrance Building in January as part of the ongoing consolidation.
