Malaysia has a zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking, which is a crime punishable by death under its Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952. The two individuals in Brunei are facing charges of murder. Execution in Brunei is currently on hold due to a temporary ban on death penalties, giving hope for a possible reprieve or commutation of sentences. In Saudi Arabia, the lone Filipino facing execution is also involved in a case of murder.
