GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — SpaceX filed a lawsuit against Grimes County and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Sept. 8, seeking to prevent the release of company information requested under the Texas Public Information Act.
SpaceX filed the complaint in Travis County district court about a month after Elon Musk and Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed that the company’s Terafab project would come to Grimes County.
The lawsuit names Paxton and Grimes County as defendants. SpaceX is asking the court to issue a temporary restraining order that would prevent the county from releasing information requested through public records requests from Grimes County residents Marie Egyed and Vanessa Burzynski.
The company also wants the court to permanently prohibit the county and attorney general from releasing what SpaceX describes as confidential information.
SpaceX argues that releasing the information could cause harm that monetary compensation could not remedy.
The lawsuit centers on two Texas Public Information Act requests that Egyed and Burzynski filed on behalf of Grimes County Citizens for Responsible Development.
SpaceX has not disclosed further details about the specific information covered in the requests.
