ARLINGTON, Texas — FIFA recognized a Fort Worth resident as the 50 millionth spectator in FIFA World Cup history after he attended Spain’s victory over Portugal on Monday at Dallas Stadium.
Immy Khan, who was born in Pakistan and now lives in Fort Worth, received the recognition after becoming the milestone fan during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. FIFA legends Carles Puyol and Pepe presented Khan with a commemorative oversized ticket following the match.
According to FIFA, total attendance at World Cup matches reached 50,020,653 after Monday’s game. Attendance for the 2026 tournament alone climbed to 6,071,923, with 11 matches remaining.
Khan has attended nine matches during this year’s tournament. Although he cheered for Spain during Monday’s match, he said he planned to support the United States Men’s National Team in its upcoming game against Belgium and named midfielder Weston McKennie as his favorite player.
“What an incredible experience,” Khan said after receiving the recognition. “We’re blessed to be hosting so many incredible visitors.”
Khan also praised the tournament’s organization, saying the matches, hospitality, facilities and guest services had exceeded his expectations.
Dallas Stadium will host one remaining World Cup match, a semifinal scheduled for July 14 at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.
