A small town in Campbell is facing controversy after about $28,000 in taxpayer money was spent through roughly 150 unauthorized credit card charges between 2024 and 2025.
Mayor Ken Padilla said the person responsible has not yet been identified, and the case has been turned over to local law enforcement for investigation. Officials have not shared more details due to the ongoing probe.
Records show the spending included over $5,000 on TikTok Shop purchases and another $5,000 on GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Ozempic. Other expenses included thousands of dollars in retail purchases, as well as payments to phone and internet services, a car dealership, a gym, and utility bills.
The issue was discussed at a recent city council meeting, where residents expressed frustration and demanded answers. So far, no one has been held accountable, and concerns continue to grow in the small community.
