HOUSTON — A local physician has been arrested after authorities say a hidden camera was found in a bathroom at his medical office, secretly recording employees.

Dr. Douglas Hansen, a podiatrist with a private practice at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Plaza, faces a charge of attempted invasive visual recording. The Harris County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office responded to the clinic on Feb. 20 after staff discovered the camera under the sink in the employee restroom, pointed toward the toilet.

According to the victims’ attorney, one employee captured cellphone video of the device and immediately alerted Memorial Hermann security before calling 911. Deputies reviewed the footage and referred the case to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, which approved the charges. Hansen was arrested the same day.

Memorial Hermann Health System issued a statement noting that the clinic operates as an independent practice and confirmed that law enforcement is investigating the matter. The attorney representing the three female victims said the women are fearful, especially as their children sometimes used the same restroom.

Hansen’s attorney stated that the district attorney has not provided evidence supporting the claims and that there is no indication that any patients were harmed or recorded.

Hansen had his arraignment on Feb. 27 and posted $100 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on April 9. Investigators have recovered all video from the device and are examining what was recorded and how long the camera was in place.
