MANILA, Philippines—Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has reaffirmed her commitment to stand with Filipinos in the fight against corruption, following her participation in the Trillion Peso March on Nov. 30.
On Monday, Dec. 1, Gray took to Instagram to amplify her call for accountability in government, lamenting the long-standing impact of corruption on ordinary citizens.
“Hindi lang pera ang ninakaw—kundi ang kinabukasang ipinagdarasal natin para sa mga anak natin,” she wrote. “Flood control pa lang ’yan—paano pa ang edukasyon, agrikultura, healthcare, ports, airports, taxes?”
(They stole not just our money but the future of our children. Those were just the flood control projects—what more in education, agriculture, healthcare, ports, airports, and taxes?)
Gray expressed frustration that despite public outrage, justice remains elusive.
“Kailan tayo muling magsisimulang umasa? Pilipinas… ang hirap mong mahalin, pero sa oras ng laban, hindi ka namin iiwan,” she added.
(When will we hope again? Philippines, it is hard to love you, but in times of battle, we will never leave you.)
Gray was among several celebrities who joined the anti-corruption rally at Liwasang Bonifacio last Nov. 30, alongside Carmi Martin, Bibeth Orteza, Pinky Amador, and Maris Racal.
