Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray will be sidelined for more than a month after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, the team announced Sunday.
The injury occurred during the first half of an exhibition game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. Team medical staff evaluated Murray after the game and confirmed the ligament tear following further assessment.
The Kings did not release an exact recovery timeline but stated that Murray will remain out for over a month to allow full rehabilitation. Team officials said they are prioritizing his complete recovery before his return to play.
Murray’s absence requires major adjustments in Sacramento’s rotation. The team plans to modify its lineup and explore options to address the gap.
Murray, selected in the 2022 NBA Draft, has been an important contributor to the Kings’ frontcourt.
