Mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor received an 18-month suspension after missing three drug tests within a 12-month period, the Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) announced on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old Irish athlete, a former featherweight and lightweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), accepted the sanction. The suspension stems from McGregor’s repeated failure to appear for mandatory drug tests, violating anti-doping rules.

CSAD reaffirmed its commitment to promoting clean competition and enforcing strict testing standards. The organization emphasized that consistent monitoring is essential to preserving fairness in combat sports.

McGregor’s suspension underscores the continuing challenges of ensuring transparency and compliance in professional athletics. His absence for 18 months is expected to affect his career trajectory and standing in the MMA community.

This case joins a list of high-profile doping violations that have drawn public attention in recent years. The suspension takes effect immediately, barring McGregor from participating in any sanctioned combat sports events.

CSAD officials maintain that rigorous enforcement of testing protocols remains central to protecting the integrity of the sport.
