Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and actress Sharon Cuneta officially withdrew the cyberlibel case they filed against entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin on July 8, 2025.
The parties reached an out-of-court settlement through mediation. Following this agreement, Pangilinan’s legal counsel confirmed the couple’s permanent decision to desist from pursuing the case.
A judge subsequently dismissed the case due to lack of evidence. As a result, Cristy Fermin was acquitted of all charges.
The original complaint, filed in May 2024, involved five counts of cyberlibel against Fermin.
Senator Pangilinan expressed satisfaction with the resolution and case dismissal. Talent manager Ogie Diaz also publicly remarked on the outcome.
The settlement concludes the legal proceedings between the parties.
