Communities across Texas celebrated the Fourth of July on Friday with patriotic pride, coastal charm, and star-studded performances that brought thousands together to honor America’s 249th birthday.

In Galveston, families and visitors lined the Seawall for the island’s traditional Independence Day parade. The celebration, framed by the backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico, continued into the evening with a fireworks display that lit up the sky above the water. Galveston’s festivities spanned the weekend, offering a relaxed yet spirited experience that blended classic Americana with island culture.

Meanwhile, in Houston, the city’s signature Freedom Over Texas celebration returned to Eleanor Tinsley Park with six hours of entertainment along Allen Parkway. The event featured a lineup of local, regional, and national acts, including country music stars Ashley McBryde and Lee Brice. McBryde, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, made her first appearance at the event, while Brice returned to headline for the second time, having previously performed in 2021.

The evening culminated in a musically choreographed, “Texas-sized” fireworks finale, illuminating the downtown skyline and drawing cheers from an estimated crowd of 50,000 attendees. The event was also broadcast live in Houston and offered for simulcast across television affiliates in Texas.

Beyond entertainment, Freedom Over Texas carried a strong community focus. A portion of food and beverage sales was donated to the Houston Food Bank, reflecting a commitment to addressing food insecurity in the region.

As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, this year’s Independence Day celebrations served as a powerful reminder of tradition, community, and the enduring spirit of freedom in Texas.
